Alexia C. Ioannides is a Licensed Psychotherapist and Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida, and a nationally Registered Dance Movement Therapist. She is an EMDR Trained Therapist, Level 1&2, from the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. She has worked in the mental health field since 2005, and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of addictions, eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology with Honors, with a minor in Dance, and a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology, both from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is a Neurogistics Certified Practitioner, offering brain chemistry testing and evaluation as part of her treatment. She enjoys integrating experiential arts therapies into her treatment approach, and completed Masters level coursework in Dance Movement Therapy at the Harkness Dance Center in New York.
In 2014, Alexia was interviewed by the Palm Beach Post and was featured in their January 2nd "Meet Your Neighbor" publication discussing her passion for artists with mental illness and Dance Movement Therapy. In 2016, she was hosted on the Palm Beach Music Therapy Institute's radio talk show to discuss Dance Movement Therapy and substance abuse. In 2017, Alexia was interviewed by the Palm Beach Daily News "Shiny Sheet" regarding Dance Movement Therapy in private practice. Recently in 2019, Alexia had the privilege of facilitating Dance Movement Therapy with Camp Shine- a ground breaking summer program run by leading creative arts therapists, developed specifically for the MSD students of the Parkland community. Alexia is a member of the American Dance Therapy Association and Mental Health Counselors Association of Palm Beach.
